Upon further reflection of my comment, I would like to extend my sincerest apologies to you and anyone else I may have offended. Against the sound advice of every PoC I follow on Tumblr and know in real life, I failed to check my privilege, sit down, and shut the fuck up when it comes to a topic I know next to nothing about: race. While my comment was simply to present an excuse as to why the cake was made in such a fashion, that is all it was, an excuse. I recognize that any comment I made to make the cake in question appear harmless, was done so out of the very fact that I have white privilege and to question another’s opinion was not only ignorant and insensitive, but by no stretch of the imagination could be construed as an attempt to invalidate your argument as a PoC. I am under no illusion that you need to accept my apology or that you even need to respond to this, but I do hope that you see the sincerity in which it is given. Again, I reiterate, my deepest apologies to you and anyone else who may have taken offense at my comment.
